Performance, and especially improvisation, have become important strands of my artistic practice over the past decade. My work realizing the live electronic music of composers such as John Cage, Alvin Lucier, Luigi Nono, and Karlheinz Stockhausen has led me to an increased commitment to performance, and to explore my interests in multiplicity, form, rhythm, and color in real-time and collaborative scenarios. Performance, improvisation, and concert production all have a social dimension; they allow me to participate in and contribute to the Bay Area and Milwaukee music-making communities that I value artistically and personally.
