sfSoundSeries

Our summer 2005 concerts showcase the improvisational talents of the sfSoundGroup, with free and structured improvisations appearing on every program. We also present some of the most influential compositions of the twentieth century: Erik Satie's Relache is an early experiment in multimedia performance, John Cage's Concert for Piano and Orchestra heralded the entrance of indeterminacy into the arts, and Steve Reich's Drumming introduced a generation of composers to the ecstatic pulse of minimalism. Finally, these concerts express our interest in the newest of music, with premieres by Bay Area composers Matt Ingalls and John Shiurba.
